The music of Damn Arkansan stems from a ten year collaborative effort between Drew Walls and Will Eubanks. The two began writing in the early 2000’s, but the efforts never materialized into their intended full-length release. For several years, Walls and Eubanks pursued individual endeavors before reuniting in Fayetteville, Arkansas in late 2008. The new self titled album is a testament to the past year and a half of collaborations between the two.
The music of alt-country heroes like Dawes and early Wilco flows through the veins of Damn Arkansan along with a little bit of Ben Kweller’s pop sensibility. Also influenced by Ben Kweller, Paul Simon, The Band, Pavement, and Whiskeytown, the result is a breed of music that bridges the gap between Americana and indie rock.
